A ceremony to commemorate the official ‘Premises Hand Over’ of the designated venue of the ‘First Indian University in Qatar’ MIE-SPPU Institute of Higher Education was conducted in the presence of Dr. Khalid Abdullah al-Ali acting Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs at the Ministry of Education (MoEHE), Indian Ambassador to Qatar Dr. Deepak Mital,MIE Chairman Ali A Latif al-Misnad, The Commercial Avenue Chief Executive Abullah Haider, DPS Group Chief Patron Mohaned Bin Hammam l-Abdullah and MIE Founder President Hassan Chougule . This university will operate from The Commercial Avenue on the Industrial Area Road at Ain Khalid.
Dr. Al-Ali in his speech highlighted that students of MIE-SPPU will not be required to obtain ‘Equivalency Certification’ in Qatar unlike students from other universities and from outside who need this.
This Institute is fully licensed by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar and the academic program will be launched under Savtribhai Phule Pune University’s academic governance structure. Al-Misnad mentioned that the close cooperation between the University and the MoEHE ensued in many visits made to India to analyze and set up this University in collaboration with Savitribhai Phule Pune University, Pune, Doha.
Dr. Mittal the Indian Ambassador hailed this as a milestone launch considering the relationship between India and Qatar. He expressed his happiness on this education partnership as it will serve the significant Indian residents in Qatar.
Founder President of MIE-SPPU, Mr. Hassan Chougley in his address traced the story of how the First Indian University came to be established in Qatar. He mentioned that admissions for the available programs are open for students from all countries provided they have equivalent qualifying academic documentations. He added that the University aims to be the cheapest in Qatar.
Admissions are open for BACHELOR OF ARTS- Economics/ Psychology, BACHELOR OF COMMERCE -International Finance Banking/ Banking & Finance, BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION – Marketing / Finance, BACHELOR OF SCIENCE- Information & Technology/ Data Science ( Students choosing BSc can opt for any of these 3 Minor Information & Technology/ Data Science or Physics along with the Majors being offered)
